Google Officially Says No to SEO in Fear Of Christmas Rumble

April 4, 2008

Google Web Spam team VS. Google SEO Team 2008

Google decides to stick with an old claim and sell their search engine optimization company.

On March 11, Google’s purchase of DoubleClick finalized and Google became the proud owner of Performics and the company’s search engine optimization (SEO) division. The thought of Google owning a search engine optimization company with everyone.

Forget about the backlash from thousands of search engine optimizers, can you imagine Google trying to manage the annual Christmas party fights between their optimization team and their web spam team? Thankfully, Google decided to stick with their claim that “No one can guarantee a #1 ranking on Google”, and is selling the search engine optimization side of Performics.

Although I would recommend Google’s SEO services to anyone, I’m glad they decided to sell the business unit. I never thought Google would hold onto the division – imagine how many clients they would have…what a nightmare!

Google does plan on keeping the affiliate marketing division of Performics -

“We plan to integrate the affiliate marketing business into existing Google operations, providing enhanced value and reach for our affiliate advertisers, and additional tools and monetization opportunities for our publishers.”

Google’s blog post about it

Thanks Google!

I was hoping they wouldn’t sell it, it would have made for some great discussions. :D

That picture is great! Had no idea Matt was that ripped and that he puts on war paint before any brawl. Wonder if that is how he looks in the office?

Got something to say?
